How many hats do you wear? How many roles do you fill? How often do you need to be in multiple places at once? Too many hats, too many roles and too many places to be? How do you manage it all? Great question!

Alpha and the Omega

Beginning and the End

First and the Last

Lion and the Lamb

Son of God and Son of Man

Jesus is The King of it all.

What about the in between?

Several months after my dad passed, I took the long way home from mom’s to my house and ended up at the cemetery. They had put the birthdate and passing date on the gravestone for my dad. No surprise there. What was a shock was my mother’s birth date and a dash on her side of the gravestone. I was not ready to see that. I called her promptly and said, “MOTHER, we had better not be putting a passing date on your side anytime soon!!” We both got a good chuckle out of the situation. It also got me thinking. What about the dash? What about in between?

Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, The Lion and the Lamb, the Son of God and the Son of Man. No questions asked, this is who He is. The end of time has been a constant hot topic. It flares up during intense worldly woes. We understand that God created the world we live in. 2000+ years again Jesus lived on this earth for 33 years to give us an earthly example of His life and love. We also understand that He is coming back one day to fulfill His promise of eternity. Oftentimes, I’ve said, “Jesus, you can come back anytime now. This world is crazy and I’m ready for my eternal home.”  I had the understanding of the beginning and the end down pat. What I struggled to grasp was the in between.

Jesus is not hanging out on the edge of existence waiting to pounce and return at just the right time. He’s already here. We often wonder how or where because of the destitution we see around us. How can He already be here? Is this our eternal home? If so, something is messed up!

The birth of a child; a little piece of Heaven on earth. The sunset over the ocean; a little piece of Heaven on earth. Sitting around a campfire, listening to nature around me while gazing at the stars; a little piece of Heaven on earth. Seeing the Light of Jesus in others; a little piece of Heaven on earth. What are some of your pieces of Heaven on earth?

We see the Light of Jesus in others. We read His Word. We commune with Him on a personal level. We support and build each other up in His love. Jesus is here; within you and among us.

Communing with Christ deepens my understanding of who He is within me and my identity in Him. As we continue to be molded into His image, we experience more of Heaven on earth.

As our heart  and mind are being transformed into the heart and mind we are created to have. We are becoming more intimate with Chrsit. Within that intimacy is more and more of Heaven here on earth. It’s the in between. And He is here in the in between.

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega and all the letters in between, puts them togethers and creates who He desires us to be. Jesus is not only the Beginning and the End, He is the middle that walks alongside us as our constant companion. Jesus is the First and the Last as well as the center of it all keeping us in line. Jesus is the Lion and the Lamb with the perfect balance of power and gentleness. Jesus is the Son of God and the Son of Man as our connection between Heaven and Earth. Jesus is not only the extreme spectrum of life, He is the in between. He is all encompassing.

In Jesus’ allness, we have Heaven here on earth. We don’t have to wait or pine for eternity. We have the in between in Him.

My precious friends, just because the world around us is doom and gloom, does not mean we have to live in doom and gloom. This earth is a hot mess. Good thing Jesus loves this hot mess. Turn your focus from the worldliness around you and focus on the Christness within you. How can you be more like Jesus today? How can you experience a little bit more of Heaven on earth today?

I have a sign that says, “Life is better by the lake.” While it does have its perks, life is better with Jesus.

Live in the in between with Christ. Enjoy some Heaven on earth as we grow in His image.
